Open Door's holistic 4-week recovery programs are designed to help body, mind, and spirit make the transition from addiction to recovery.

Our individual counseling sessions often serve as the pinnacle of your journey to self-awareness. Talking with a counselor on an individual basis gives you time to delve deep into your personal past to discover the exact nature of your problems. This level of self-discovery gives you a place to begin your journey to recovery. In individual counseling sessions you will learn how to accept the things you cannot change, how to let go, and how to move forward.

Sharing experiences with other women who are on the same recovery journey provides comfort and support, and leads to self-discovery. Hearing the stories of others in group therapy leads to revelations that you might have never found on your own.

12 Step Meetings outside of the Ranch gives you the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life living in the San Miguel area. Find strength and hope from hearing the recovery stories of others who have traveled the same path.

Some of the cultural activities surrounding San Miguel include trips to the Benedictine Monastery, a sanctuary for spirituality and self-reflection, where you will experience the art of meditation. Throughout the year, the city of San Miguel is home to numerous art shows and festivals to stimulate your mind and broaden your worldview and your perception of self.

Horses are non-judgmental and have no expectations. Working with horses helps you become aware of your emotional state as horse reacts directly to your behavior. Equine therapy sessions will allow you to gain insight into your emotions, boundaries, and reveal your stumbling blocks to recovery. This self-evaluation and resulting emotional growth can have an effect on your overall recovery and self esteem.

|
Creative expression techniques further deepen the journey to self-discovery. When you allow your creativity to flow openly, you often uncover things about yourself that you may not have known existed. During your stay, you'll have the opportunity to explore your spiritual journey through different artistic and creative activities. Sometimes the easiest way to address memories and build self esteem is through art.

Reducing anxiety is important to you in recovery because stress can lead to relapse. Experiences of your past have shaped where you are now. At The Open Door, we will help you learn to work through anxiety using meditation, massage, yoga, walks in nature, cooking and dips in our thermal pool. Our activities are created to help you focus on yourself.

|
When you discover more about yourself, you gain confidence about who you are. Some addicts have trouble accepting reality. Using enneagrams, dream interpretation and meditation, you will embark on a journey of increased self-esteem. When you truly know yourself inside and out, you will discover the foundation of a more balanced and joyful life. Your journey in recovery never ends. Your journey must continue. Regardless of where we are, you can always benefit from further discovery.
