Job description: Background and purpose of the position:

Association for Gender Awareness & Human Empowerment (AGAHE) with technical and financial support of Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and in close collaboration with Government Departments is implementing a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program titled as “Upscaling WASH Systems Strengthening in fragile and developing context to achieve targets under SDG 6”. The program is framed around WASH System Strengthening Approach and Sustainable Development Goals framework to improve the existing WASH Systems for creating conducive policy and civil society environment at national and provincial levels, capacitating the service authorities to improve WASH Services levels, and ensuring sustainable service delivery to leave no one behind. The overall aim of the program is to facilitate government in meeting national commitments for achieving targets under sustainable development goals specially SDG 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation for All’.

For this program, AGAHE is hiring Coordination Officer for stakeholders’ engagement to ensure the smooth implementation of the program and achieving the desired results.

Reporting Line: The position will be working under supervision of Project Manager – WASH System Strengthening in Pakistan.

Duty Station: Lahore (with travel to field area of the program to participate in major district level activities, if required)

Contract Duration: 12 Months (Extendable on the basis of performance and need of the project)

Role of the Position:

The position will serve as a focal point for WASH SSI program and responsible for managing the stakeholder’s coordination, communication and knowledge management at provincial level.

The major role and responsibilities of the position are as following:

  • The position will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating with relevant WASH actors including government departments, UN agencies, development partners, academia etc. at provincial and national level to ensure their effective stakeholder’s engagement for working on WASH system strengthening in Punjab.
  • Stakeholders mapping and engagement in the program interventions.
  • Facilitate in organizing the WASH system strengthening interventions like sector dialogues, consultation workshops, capacity building training sessions etc. at provincial and district level through ensuring the stakeholders participation, contribution, and ownership.
  • Facilitate in organizing meetings of Provincial WASH Coordination Committee to review the sector progress and planning on quarterly basis or as per need.
  • Drafting meeting minutes and circulating to the stakeholders after approval from the competent authority at department.
  • Revitalization of learning and knowledge exchange platform (s) at provincial level for sharing the best practices and learn from each other to contribute more efficiently.
  • Provide support in documenting the best practices and lessons learnt from crucial interventions
  • Provide support and inputs for development of knowledge products and disseminating to the wider stakeholders/audience.
  • Facilitate in carrying out different type of assessments including baseline, end line and other capacity exercises to develop capacity building plans for the stakeholders.
  • Providing technical support in data collection, analysis and reporting specially updating the progress in WASH MIS and generating/ preparing reports.
  • Facilitate consultants engaged by AGAHE and WHH to work on different assignments under WASH SSI program.
  • Any other task assigned by the management.

Required Qualification: Master’s degree (16 years) in social sciences, communications, public administration, public policy, environmental sciences or chemical / civil engineering.

Required Experience, knowledge, and skills:

Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in WASH Sector, including extensive experience of working in/with government departments at provincial level, Experience in a coordination role will be added advantage.

Knowledge: Profound knowledge of WASH Sector policies and plans, Sustainable Development Goals specifically SDG 6, relevant government department’s mandate, working and their roles, in WASH system strengthening, national and international WASH forums, networks and alliances.


  • Coordination and effective communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships with government departments and sector partners at national and provincial and district level.
  • Understanding of drafting protocols of government documents like letters, notes, notifications, etc.
  • Excellent writing and facilitation skills
